This area is dedicated to the classic artists of Art Nouveau. The Art Nouveau period began in Paris and Vienna in the late 1890's and continued until 1910 with the ascendance of the Art Deco period. The pinnacle of the Art Nouveau postcard was from 1900 to 1902. The Art Nouveau period is notable for two distinct types of art: the soft tones of highly composed flower-like images of people and the highly stylized outlined simplified images of people and places as may be found on numerous posters. The major postcard artists of the period include Alphonse Mucha, Raphael Kirchner, & Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. Other Art Nouveau artists whose work appear on postcards include: Jack Abeille, Arpad Basch, Luigi Bompard, Leonetto Cappiello, Gisbert Combaz, Eugene Grasset, Albert Guillaume, Josef Hoffmann, Karl Jozsa, Georgio Kienerk, Mela Kohler, Ernest Lessieux, Henri Meunier, Koloman Moser, Gaston Noury, Serge Solomko, Theophile Steinlen, Clarence Underwood, and Jacques Villon.
